Saagar, I heard you say that a big difference between you and other Republicans is that you are not religious, I very much feel in the same boat. I thought Trump would break that but I think his lack of discipline keeps it alive. If Trump loses I feel that the Republican party will go back to being more religious and less barstool. Maybe it'll be Barstool instead of tea partiers versus the GOP. With Israel and religion being a major part of that conflict I'm curious would it take a more secular president to stop it?
Saagar has brought up that there are guardrails to help prevent Trump's most extreme views. Like taxes / tariffs with Congress, or the army not accepting orders to attack civilians I've often heard guardrails as a way to prevent Trump / the GOP from going too far but I rarely hear them applied to Democrats Does that come down to a fundamental view that Republicans are more libertarian and don't want the big government (which I don't buy), and Democrats have no problem using the government?
